Short answer: a one-page site is often enough for businesses that offer a single service, serve a specific area or audience, and want one thing from visitors. It usually isn't enough for businesses with several services that each need to be found on Google separately.
The line between the two is clearer than it seems. The questions below will help you place yourself.
Advantages of a one-page site
The most obvious advantage is speed. Both build speed and loading speed. A one-page site is usually ready within a few business days, and with less content, writing the copy is quick too.
The second advantage is control over the flow. Visitors don't get lost in menus; they move top to bottom in the order you designed: what you do, how you do it, who's been happy with it, how to reach you. Scrolling is natural on a phone, so it reads comfortably on mobile.
It's also easy to maintain. Fewer pages to update, fewer pages to go stale.
Its limits for SEO
A page generally ranks for one main topic. Picture a plumber with four services: boiler servicing, air conditioner installation, radiator flushing and leak detection. All four can sit on one page as headings. But for someone searching 'air conditioner installation Pendik', Google may be more inclined to show a competitor that explains AC installation on its own page, with price, process and FAQs.
Content depth is limited too. There's no room for a blog, guides or detailed questions and answers. AI-assisted search also tends to quote clear, question-focused, detailed content; a single promotional page can be weak on that front.
There's a technical constraint as well: a single page has one title tag and one description. In search results, you have to describe yourself in a single line.
Who it's ideal for
- Freelancers offering a single service: a wedding photographer, a sworn translator, a private tutor
- Pages built for an event, launch or ad campaign. In that case we're really talking about a landing page; we explained the difference in a separate article.
- New businesses whose content hasn't settled yet. Starting with one page and expanding as enquiries come in is a sensible route.
- Businesses whose customers mostly come through referrals or social media and that don't depend heavily on Google search
If you're a freelancer, we covered what a personal website should include separately.
For online stores, businesses serving several cities, or anyone in a competitive sector with high search volume, one page can be too narrow even in the short term.
Moving to multiple pages as you grow
Starting with one page shouldn't mean not planning to grow. A few small decisions make the transition much easier.
Write sections so they can later become their own pages. Make each service in the 'Services' section a short but self-contained paragraph; later that paragraph can grow into a separate page. Your domain stays the same and new pages are added under the existing site.
Watch the platform. Some page builders and campaign page services allow only one page or charge per page. When getting a quote, ask: if I want to add pages later, how long will it take and how will it be priced?
At Kodyva we try to answer this together in the first meeting: what you need today, and what you might need in a year. Sometimes the right answer is one page, sometimes five pages from the start. What matters is that you don't have to rebuild the site in year two.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a one-page site show up on Google?
Yes, especially for searches using the business name and for local searches about a single service. If you want to rank separately for several services, giving each one its own page is generally more effective.
Is a landing page the same as a one-page website?
They look similar but serve different purposes. A landing page usually supports a single campaign or ad and asks for one action. A one-page website presents the business as a whole and is permanent.
How much does a one-page website cost?
The price depends on scope; copywriting, form and WhatsApp integration, analytics setup and custom design needs are the main factors. To give you a sense of scale, Kodyva's landing page service ranges from 6,000 to 15,000 TL; the price of a one-page business site is settled in the quote based on its scope.
