Online Booking Websites for Hair and Beauty Salons

If the salon phone rings while you're in the middle of a colour, online booking is a need, not a luxury. A salon site that brings bookings with a service and price list and a gallery.

Online Booking Websites for Hair and Beauty Salons

In a hair salon, the phone always seems to ring at the worst moment: scissors in hand, colour being mixed, client in the chair. If you don't answer, the caller may try another salon. If you do, the client in the chair waits. The real job of a salon website is to break that cycle. Beautiful photos and the brand story come second; bookings come first.

A salon site's real job: bookings

Many customers think about booking in the evening, after work, when the salon is closed. At that hour the phone doesn't ring and messages wait until morning. An online booking system takes appointments while the salon is closed.

On the site this is simple: a “Book now” button on the homepage's first screen, pinned to the bottom of the screen on mobile. Visitors shouldn't have to open a menu and hunt for the booking page.

Online booking options

There are three routes, depending on the size of the salon.

The simplest is WhatsApp. For a one-person or two-chair salon, a “Message us on WhatsApp to book” button with a pre-filled message can be enough. No extra system cost; but you still arrange appointments by hand.

The second route is booking apps made for salons. Customers see free slots, choose the service and the stylist, and book themselves. Many apps also send SMS or email reminders, which can reduce no-shows. They usually run on a monthly subscription; when choosing, check for a Turkish interface, SMS costs and whether you can export your data. On the site you use a button linking to the app's booking page, or a booking widget embedded in a page.

The third route is a custom booking system built into the site. It makes sense for salons with several branches, many staff and their own specific rules, but development and maintenance cost more.

Whichever you choose, add the same booking link to the booking field in your Google Business Profile and to your Instagram profile. Whatever door customers come through, they should land in the same calendar.

Service and price list

Salon owners are wary of listing prices. We've heard “they won't come once they see the price” and “it depends on hair length” many times. But a salon that doesn't list prices has its phone tied up by calls that only ask about price. And customers who can't see a price may go to a salon that shows one rather than asking.

The fix is to give ranges: “Blow-dry: 300 to 500 TL, depending on hair length” (figures are for illustration only). Group services (hair, colour, treatments, skin, nails, hair removal) and add a sentence or two and an approximate duration to each. “Highlights: about 2.5 hours” helps customers plan their day and helps the booking system reserve the right amount of time.

Updating prices when they change takes a few minutes in the admin panel. If you won't update them, saying “Message us for current prices” is more honest than leaving old prices up. A gap between the prices on the site and the price list in the salon can lead to disputes with customers; check current regulations for your obligations on displaying prices.

Gallery and Instagram

For salons, Instagram is already a strong showcase. The site doesn't replace it; it complements it. We discussed why a website is still needed for businesses that find Instagram enough in a separate post.

Don't try to show everything on the site. A gallery of your best 15 to 20 pieces of work, grouped by service type, looks tidier than an Instagram feed of hundreds of posts. Before and after photos work well for colour and cuts.

A caution: get explicit permission before sharing photos where a client's face is visible, and keep it in writing (a message is fine). It's a matter of both KVKK (the Turkish data protection law) and trust.

Skin treatments, laser and similar services close to the health field are different. Wording that promises definite results and before and after images can run into advertising rules; check current regulations when promoting these services, and don't guarantee results.

Embedding your Instagram feed is tempting, but be careful. Some embed tools slow the page down noticeably. Uploading selected photos directly to the site with a link to your Instagram profile usually gives a faster, tidier result.

Reviews and local search

For searches like “hairdresser Kadıköy” or “beauty salon near me”, Google often shows the map first. The way to be visible there is a complete Business Profile and a steady flow of genuine reviews.

Salons are lucky when it comes to collecting reviews. The moment a client looks in the mirror and shows they're happy is a good moment to ask. A QR card at the till or a short WhatsApp message after the appointment is enough. We explained how to do this within the rules, with example messages, in our post on reviews.

Add a few of your Google reviews to the site as well, with the reviewers' permission.

When we adapt one of Kodyva's ready-made sites for a salon, we set up the booking button, the service and price list and the gallery, in that order. If you're not sure which booking route suits you, talking through your daily appointment count and number of staff in the first meeting usually settles it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does online booking increase no-shows?

It can, with a system that sends no reminders. An SMS or WhatsApp reminder a day before and a few hours before the appointment can reduce that risk. Some salons take a small deposit for busy slots; if you do, state the refund terms clearly and check with your accountant or lawyer that they comply with consumer law.

Does each staff member need a separate calendar?

If you have more than one, usually yes. Some clients want to work with a specific stylist. A good booking system lets you set each staff member's hours and services separately.
